Your payment experience with Google Pay is fully secure. Google Pay protects your payment information with multiple layers of security, using one of the most advanced infrastructures to help keep your account safe.

How am I protected for in-store payments?

When using your Android device to pay contactless, Google Pay doesn't send your card information. Instead, an encrypted virtual account number is used to represent this data – so your real card details stay safe.

Your phone has to be unlocked to pay for amounts that are superior to the national contactless limit. Only a limited amount of small payments is allowed with a locked screen, and they are only feasible if the screen is turned on.

What should I do if my device is lost or stolen?

You're always in control, even when your device is lost or stolen. Just visit the Find My Device tool to lock your device or erase your payment information.
